What causes epoxy flooring to peel?

Epoxy flooring peels when the coating loses its bond with the concrete or tile underneath. The most common cause is poor surface preparation. Water vapour rising through the slab can push the coating off, especially in areas with high groundwater or during the monsoon. Applying epoxy over a damp slab almost guarantees peeling later.

If any tile is loose, cracked, or has a glossy glaze that is not properly abraded, the epoxy will not bond well.
